Review: Beauty Blender - Every Makeup Artist's dream product!

You all must have heard about the most hyped 'Beauty Blender' out there; a cute 'drop' shaped, Hot Pink Makeup Sponge applicator :) What's there not to love about it?

Well, its amazingly awesomely the best invention in the Makeup Industry. I've been using the beauty blender and its dupes for whole of my Makeup Artistry Currier and I can't pack my kit without it.

Lets talk about the the History behind the Beauty Blender, shall we?

How to Use?

Now basically there are 2 ways you can use your beauty blender, or for instance actually any Makeup Sponge applicator. Damped and Dry. I, personally suggest using it damped/wet because of the following reasons:
  • Firstly, to be honest, just because its fun and fluffy to use it when its damped :)
  • And now seriously, because it doesn't soak up as much of your foundation/concealer.
  • Also you will find blending much easier when its damped than dry.
  • Comparative to a foundation brush, damped beauty blender wont leave out any strokes on your face.
Its travel friendly, being a sponge ofcourse it will glide and slip on anywhere you want it to without considering the weight.

It is not only a must have for Makeup Artists, I suggest all my clients/students to have it in their routine as well. It gives you the perfect flawless coverage and airbrushed finish effortlessly.

Now you need to know how to use it in the right way, its no rocket science, I'll show you step by step how to do it!

  1. Keep the beauty blender under the tap water until the blender has grown to its limit.
  2. Take your concealer/foundation, it can be cream, liquid, mousse or foam. Everything works!
  3. Now just check what area of your face you are gonna be working on and choose the side of the blender accordingly. I like to use the tip of the blender to reach areas like under the eyes, inner corners, around the nose and also to spot conceal. And the flat area just to blend in the foundation all over the face.
  4. You can either dip the blender directly in the product or first pump the product behind your hands and then pick it up with the blender.
  5. Make sure you don't pick up a lot of product that your sponge sucks it up inside, build it up little by little. That's the beauty of it :)
  6. Now apply it on your face with a dabbing motion. Do not sweep the sponge, you won't get the best results.

And that's it!

Price and Where to Buy?

Originally the Beauty Blender retails for $19.95 (KD5.6) in the US and on the official website HERE.

Unfortunately it is still not available at Sephora Kuwait, but definitely you can purchase it from my favourite Instagram sellers here in Kuwait:
Barbie Shop q8 - @barbieshopq8 - KD9.5

I know its pricey, but trust me its worth the investment!
I'll be doing a blog coming up with dupes for this stuff soon :)

FASHbox March 2014 - Hair Care

With Winter finally gone and spring-summer ahead, having something to pamper yourself for a new beginning is a great start! FASHbox March 2014 went with the same ideology.

Hair is something that is a huge issue to take care of in Kuwait. Let it be any season, your hair gonna go through various textures all around the year. I, personally, am not the best at 'caring for my hair' like I do for my skin. Well there is weekly oiling, conditioning, etc. but not too extreme. The main reason is obviously because I'm a full time Hijabi, Alhamdulillah.

My Hair is super long, so this sample size of products are gonna last me 3 uses only :P
I've already used up twice and I can say that I'm liking the stuff so far :)

Lets go through the products, shall we?

So I received a total of 4 products this time in my March FASHbox out of which 3 items were from the brand called 'Organix' and I received the 'Brazilian Keratin Therapy' line of products which is meant to Straighten your curly/wavy Hair. On the actual website of Organix, there are 8 products totally in this entire 'Brazilian Keratin Therapy'.
It is enriched with Coconut oil, Avacado Oil, Cocoa butter (yummy!) and keratin proteins. The fragrance is a very strong scent of coconut with cocoa butter and the colour of the Shampoo and Conditioner are also chocolate-ish.

My Hair is already very straight and it stay that way the entire time till the next wash. So, I didn't notice much of a difference after using the products, but it kept my fly-aways in place and my hair felt really healthy and straight falling (if you know what I mean). So I'm definitely sure that the product will work awesome on Curly/Wavy hair texture as well.
As for the Anti-breakage Serum, It has the similar scent to it but its transparent gel of-course. It adds in keeping your ends super soft and straight as well. If you have split ends, this thing camouflages it very well. Can't really tell about the whole "Anti-Breakage" part though :/

You can checkout their other Range of products on their official website http://www.ogxhair.com/
They have a huge range of Hair & Body Products suiting different needs.

The last product in my FASHbox is not from the Organix line. Its by 'Doo Gro'.
Its a Leave in Conditioner for Strength & Lengthening the Hair. As I said earlier, I have super long hair so I used up the more than Half of the sachet at once, oops!
It has Avocado Oil, Silk protiens, and Olive Oil which claims to reconstruct damage hair and promote strong, long and healthier hair.
I really liked how my hair felt after using this conditioner, it really adds some volume and shine to the hair making it look very Healthy. I'd like to purchase more of this stuff. It would be great for a Weekly Hair Care Routine!

So This is it guys, hope this was helpful.

Hermes Kuwait Trunk Show - Al-Hamra Tower

I know..Its been very long since I posted. Well, I've been busy with something amazing!

I had the opportunity to Style for a Trunk show for Hermes, Kuwait of their Spring Summer collection. It was a great opportunity for me to work for such a great brand. I loved every bit of it starting from the preparation till the end fixing of that one strand of hair that won't stay in place!

I got to work totally with 4 models and one hostess, all were super pretty and professionals. Well obviously I could't do it all by myself, I took help from the Beauty YouTuber and progressing MUA based in Kuwait, Dee Naa. You can check out her channel HERE.

Although the Trunk show was for the Spring Summer collection, we went for a Modern-English Nude Looking Makeup with very minimal bronzed contours and fuller youthful brows with glossed lips.
As for the hair, we just did a straight hair with half ponytail wrapping a strand around the band. Yes I know this sounds simple, but believe me it wasn't. It was challenge to create a flawless canvas with very nude (almost no makeup) kinda look.

PS: None of the pics here are photo-shopped, all raw images shot by my Nikon D3100.

Hostess : I did a soft light pink glossy lips for her because obviously she was different.
Here is all 4 of them looking exactly the same, different skin tone ofcourse :)
Being part of Hermes was he most amazing feeling ever! I loved every bit of it so much. We worked for straight 7 hours! But at the end, it was worth all that back and foot pain at night.

Special Thanks to Dee for coming and helping me out!

Here are some snapshots from Backstage :)

Review: No7 Stay Precise Liquid Liner in 'Sky High'

Want a pop of colour in your life? How about flicking it out colourfully :)

You must have heard of the brand No7, its a cosmetics and skincare company with a wide range of products. In Kuwait, You can mainly find this brand only in Boots outlets. (Well I've only seen them there)

If you are a colour Makeup Lover, like Me, then this stuff is a must have! I have the No7 Stay Precise Liquid Liner in 'Sky High' for a long time, and I love it! I love to add it in my makeup looks for that amazing pop of colour! The vibrant Electric Royal Blue will make anyone stare :)

The Product -

A very basic packaging, Love the Electric Royal Blue! Very eye catchy, indeed. You get 3ml of product, which is pretty enough.
It claims - "Smudge Free Precision and Perfect for outlining and defining eyes. Hypo-allergenic." I totally agree! Its amazingly and awesomely the best Smudge-proof Eyeliner I've come across. Doesn't move a tiny bit the entire day!

The applicator itself is so sturdy and the perfect size. Its not like those thin brush applicators where the tip is just so wiggly that it keeps getting all over the place nor it is like those stiff fat applicator where drawing a thin line is impossible. Its a thin and very sturdy brush which is great for a precision application (like it says on the packaging).

So lets talk about the colour, OMG! Just can't get enough of it! such a pretty colour, totally defines my personality. It has a chrome/metallic finish to it, dries up quick without creating a mess and ofcourse its so vibrant! And that product there on my hand is just one single brush application (I didn't dip my brush again in the bottle, for more product)
The colour shows up so beautifully in the light <3 and the best part, every skin tone can rock this colour!

Where to Purchase? Price?

You can get your hands on it in Kuwait from any Boots Outlet, No7 Counter. If you check online, it comes in 8 shades. But here in Kuwait I've only seen 3 shades; Sky High, Chain Mill (Black) and Metallic Mocha (Soft Brown). I'd love to try that Turquoise OMG! (Mermaid)

It retails for about 4.5KD in boots and online on the boots website it is for 7.9GBP.

So How does it look on?

Well, Here you go! :D

A little Arabian Flick doesn't hurt :D

As Always, I hope this was helpful for all the colour lovers out there!
xoxo
Stay Blessed! and stay in touch with me on my social media :)
